Zoe Leonard's "I Want A Dyke For President" was hung in New York City in October 2016 just before the election of a candidate who most certainly has never "waited in line at the clinic, at the dmv, or the welfare office" and probably has never been "unemployed and layed off and sexually harrassed and gaybashed and deported," as Leonard described in her poem. In our first chapter we delve into the world of the map(no pun intended). The map’s attempted depiction of reality leaves the viewer satisfied. A nice 2-dimensional portrait of land masses, bodies of water and even directions which will guide the viewer’s eye “North”, “South”, “East” or “West”.
